BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE | ASKING ALEXANDRIA | CANE HILL | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
It's been a rough past few months with me being super busy and not being able to shoot as many shows, so I'm very happy that the few I have been able to shoot have been really successful! These are some of my favorite live images I've taken (because Asking Alexandria and Bullet For My Valentine had amazing light... also because I got to get some band portraits of Cane Hill before their hometown show in New Orleans
THIRD EYE BLIND | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I have been pumped about these photos for a while, but just haven't been able to sit down until now to finally get them up on this blog! I really don't have much to say about this concert except for that Third Eye Blind was AMAZING and that I was only able to shoot from one spot (no pit at the venue) for the whole time.
SAOSIN | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Here are shots of the opener, LIMBS and then Saosin with original lead vocalist Anthony Green.
FALL OUT BOY | AWOLNATION | PVRIS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I have recently been setting the bar really high with my photos (for my personal standards) so it's getting harder and harder to push myself. I feel like I could have done (much) better with my PVRIS and AWOLNATION photos, but I really am in love with most of the moments I captured of Fall Out Boy! They had this really cool fake snow that fell from the ceiling during the first song, which was great since I only got to shoot the first 3 songs of each band. It made for some really epic visuals!
BUKU MUSIC + ART PROJECT | MUSIC FESTIVAL PHOTOGRAPHY
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to cover BUKU Music + Art Project (better known to the New Orleans area as BUKU Fest) for Stitched Sound! I had always heard about BUKU but never attended. It's only been around for a couple years but each year it has been getting bigger and bigger, and this year it had actually sold out (30,000 people, CRAZY!)
THE AP WORLD TOUR | HOUSTON, TX | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
A few weeks ago I got to go on a long anticipated trip to Houston with my boyfriend to see/photograph The AP World Tour at Scout Bar!
MUTEMATH | NOTHING BUT THIEVES | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I mentioned in a previous blog post about how I sometimes benefit from the use of a 70-200mm lens at concerts when there isn't a barricaded "photo-pit" for photographers to shoot from. This MUTEMATH concert is a perfect exmaple of one of these times. I knew the show was sold out and I knew the venue (The Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge) didn't have a photo pit. So I made sure that I got there PLENTY early to get up to the front of the stage and hold out a spot.
AARON CARTER | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I've been excited to post these for a while! I had the opportunity to photograph Aaron Carter.. yes you heard me right.. in January at the Roux House, which is right next door to where I work in downtown Baton Rouge.
CITY AND COLOUR | GREYHOUNDS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph City and Colour at the House of Blues in New Orleans for Stitched Sound magazine. Greyhounds opened the show, and the entire night was magical.
LIL WAYNE | RAE SREMMURD | THE DEDICATION TOUR | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
When I heard that Lil Wayne and Rae Sremmurd were coming to the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana a mere hour from me, I was like I HAVE TO COVER THIS SHOW. I didn't think it was going to end up happening, but long story short I was approved for a press pass about 3 hours before the concert and hightailed it out of work and to Laffy, blasting Weezy the entire way there. And made time to stop at Taco Bell for dinner, obviously.
AUGUST BURNS RED | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On December 12th, 2015 hardcore bands Wage War, Polyphia, Stick to Your Guns, Every Time I Die and August Burns Red stopped by the House of Blues in New Orleans, LA on their tour.
RESTORATIONS, PIANOS BECOME THE TEETH, MEWITHOUTYOU, THE MENZINGERS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On November 1st, Restorations, Pianos Become the Teeth, mewithoutYou and The Menzingers rolled into Baton Rouge on their tour to play at the historic venue Spanish Moon. Spanish Moon is a super intimate and unique venue, dating back to the 1800's as an old Firehouse and standing as one of the most legendary places for bands to stop on their tours of the southern USA. With a small area for crowds and a second floor balcony overlooking the space, the venue proves to be a snug, mellow atmosphere even with the most popular of bands on its tiny stage. It is observed that the largest crowd of the night gathered for mewithoutYou, but the other bands on the ticket captivated the audiences as well!
FUTURE | FREEBANDZ FEST | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On Friday September 25th, the Freebandz Fest came to Baton Rouge’s River Center in full force. Headlined by rapper Future and other hip-hop artists August Alsina, Rocko, and iHeart Memphis, the event was a sure success.
THE MAVERICKS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Eclectic Country/Latin/Rockabilly band, The Mavericks, performed at The Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts last month, opening the season with a bang. It was a sold out show complete with a pre-show reception and a sponsorship by Regions bank. I conveniently am the full-time graphic designer at Manship Theatre, so I was able to snag a few photos!
DEFEATER, VARIANTS, FORGED BY HATE | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On Thursday September 24th, Defeaterplayed an intimate show with local bands at the Russel Jones Mixed Martial Arts studio in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On tour promoting their latest album, “Abandoned”, Defeater completely dominated the crowd. This venue was unlike others due to its small size, no stage, and boxing equipment everywhere, but that made it all the more authentic to witness. Bands Variants and Forged By Hate came from New Orleans to open for Defeater, and they had quite a turnout.
BOWLING FOR SOUP | LAVAPALOOZA | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
It’s rare that a band as big as Bowling For Soup comes to the Baton Rouge area, much less plays at a local Mexican restaurant in a popular shopping center. Months ago when I heard they were coming to headline the first “Lavapalooza” at Lava Cantina restaurant, I knew I just HAD to check it out and get some shots!
HONEYVIBE | HOUSE OF BLUES NEW ORLEANS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
HONEYVIBE IS AT IT AGAIN. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing them at the Baton Rouge Blues Festival a few months ago. This time, they helped me with my dream of photographing at the House of Blues in New Orleans, one of the most historic music venues and a place that I've seen some great bands at myself. Being on stage with such talented people performing and capturing their love for music is exhilarating. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this awesome group of guys!
GROOVIN 2K15 | YOUNG THE GIANT, PARACHUTE, COIN | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Every year, LSU Students On Target puts on a free concert in Baton Rouge for students and locals. With big names in the past like Akon, One Republic, Ludacris, and Weezer, it's an event that pretty much everyone puts in their calendar each year. This year, bands Dulac Smack, Coin, and Parachute opened up for headlining act Young the Giant. I had the amazing opportunity to shoot the meet & greets with the bands, and even get a pass to shoot the performances from the pit! It was an AMAZING show, I still can't believe that LSU Students on Target pull this off for us to go FREE. I'm obsessed with some of the shots I got, so check them out below and let me know what you think!
BATON ROUGE BLUES FESTIVAL | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I had the awesome opportunity to obtain a media pass for the Baton Rouge Blues Festival last Saturday, which was pretty amazing considering I had access to shoot and hear TONS of talented artists. If you haven't had the chance to check out this great festival, you have to go next year! Because of inclement weather, it was moved indoors to the Baton Rouge River Center this year, but that just made it a more convenient event to attend!
35 PSI, THE NOISE COMPLAINTS, MEGAFAUNA | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to see/photograph 35 PSI at Siberia in Uptown New Orleans along with 2 other bands, Megafauna and The Noise Complaints! It was an awesome experience because I pretty much had full access with my camera and of course the music sounded great. Siberia was a really cool, intimate venue as well. I really enjoyed meeting everybody and hearing what they were all about!
