WALK-ON’S | COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
A few weeks ago I was able to work with Walk-On’s for a content creation opportunity! I love approaching brand photography with a lifestyle approach, especially when good food is involved.
How to Work From Home and Not Go Insane
This is a topic that I feel like gets brought up a lot in conversations. People always say "how do you work from home- I could never do that!" I feel like it definitely requires a balance, and that it's not for everyone. But if you're already in that boat- here are some tips I've learned to help make sure your brain doesn't explode!!!
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Warner Bros Records was having a contest on their Facebook page where you should post in the comments why you should get to photograph RHCP in your city. So I posted one of the photos from Jazzfest and explained my experience and how I wanted to properly shoot them from a photo pit. A few weeks later I had a notification that I won!
PIERCE THE VEIL, NECK DEEP, I PREVAIL | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
In September I got to photograph some of my FAVORITE bands ever. Words cannot explain how much Pierce the Veil and Neck Deep mean to me, the fact that they were on tour together and came through New Orleans was the most perfect thing ever. I was also introduced to their opener, I Prevail, who also put on an amazing performance.
INTERVIEW WITH ALL MAGAZINE | CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHY
HI FRIENDS! A while back I was approached by Heather of All Magazine on Twitter about being interviewed about my concert photography. I am currently recovering from neck surgery and while I was in the hospital I was surprised to see that the final product was tweeted to me!
MOLLY TAYLOR MUSIC | PROMO SHOOT
A couple of weeks ago I got to work with the BADDEST babe, Molly Taylor. She's a singer/songwriter in the Baton Rouge area (who also makes really amazing jewelry out of wood!!!) that has the coolest style, and when she approached me with her ideas for a promo shoot it was obvious we were on the same page visually, and in life in general.
AARON CARTER | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I've been excited to post these for a while! I had the opportunity to photograph Aaron Carter.. yes you heard me right.. in January at the Roux House, which is right next door to where I work in downtown Baton Rouge.
PHOTO COLLAB WITH ERIC GARCIA
My good friend and photographer Eric Garcia is about to launch a new website, so we thought it would be a perfect time for us to do another fun collab shoot! As photographers, it's hard to get good shots of ourselves so it's kind of nice to be able to get good shots of each other (that aren't selfies!)
STEP INTO MY OFFICE | NEW CAMERA APPRECIATION POST
SO during all the black friday madness, I pulled the trigger and purchased a new camera that I had been saving up for for a while now (SHOUT OUT to Cameta Camera for having a killer deal on a kit!) It was supposed to be sent to my house today between 1-5, so I took off a half day of work so I could be at my house when it got delivered. Well... it ended up getting delivered a day early, and I had already taken off so I was like why not play with it this afternoon!
ERIC | PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY
ERIC FREAKING GARCIA. I love every photo of Eric because I love Eric. He is so photogenic and one of the most genuine people I've ever met, which makes photographing him super easy. He's also a talented photographer, and we had a great time collaborating and taking photos of each other in downtown Baton Rouge a few weeks ago.
RESTORATIONS, PIANOS BECOME THE TEETH, MEWITHOUTYOU, THE MENZINGERS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On November 1st, Restorations, Pianos Become the Teeth, mewithoutYou and The Menzingers rolled into Baton Rouge on their tour to play at the historic venue Spanish Moon. Spanish Moon is a super intimate and unique venue, dating back to the 1800's as an old Firehouse and standing as one of the most legendary places for bands to stop on their tours of the southern USA. With a small area for crowds and a second floor balcony overlooking the space, the venue proves to be a snug, mellow atmosphere even with the most popular of bands on its tiny stage. It is observed that the largest crowd of the night gathered for mewithoutYou, but the other bands on the ticket captivated the audiences as well!
FUTURE | FREEBANDZ FEST | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On Friday September 25th, the Freebandz Fest came to Baton Rouge’s River Center in full force. Headlined by rapper Future and other hip-hop artists August Alsina, Rocko, and iHeart Memphis, the event was a sure success.
THE MAVERICKS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Eclectic Country/Latin/Rockabilly band, The Mavericks, performed at The Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts last month, opening the season with a bang. It was a sold out show complete with a pre-show reception and a sponsorship by Regions bank. I conveniently am the full-time graphic designer at Manship Theatre, so I was able to snag a few photos!
DEFEATER, VARIANTS, FORGED BY HATE | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
On Thursday September 24th, Defeaterplayed an intimate show with local bands at the Russel Jones Mixed Martial Arts studio in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On tour promoting their latest album, “Abandoned”, Defeater completely dominated the crowd. This venue was unlike others due to its small size, no stage, and boxing equipment everywhere, but that made it all the more authentic to witness. Bands Variants and Forged By Hate came from New Orleans to open for Defeater, and they had quite a turnout.
BOWLING FOR SOUP | LAVAPALOOZA | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
It’s rare that a band as big as Bowling For Soup comes to the Baton Rouge area, much less plays at a local Mexican restaurant in a popular shopping center. Months ago when I heard they were coming to headline the first “Lavapalooza” at Lava Cantina restaurant, I knew I just HAD to check it out and get some shots!
CHRISTIAN | SKATEBOARDING
It was super fun for me to be with my best friend hanging outside while also photographing something just for the heck of it, which I don't do a lot of these days. Also, I realized that skateboard photography is not as easy as it looks.. so this was also a healthy Saturday afternoon challenge.
HONEYVIBE | HOUSE OF BLUES NEW ORLEANS | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
HONEYVIBE IS AT IT AGAIN. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing them at the Baton Rouge Blues Festival a few months ago. This time, they helped me with my dream of photographing at the House of Blues in New Orleans, one of the most historic music venues and a place that I've seen some great bands at myself. Being on stage with such talented people performing and capturing their love for music is exhilarating. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this awesome group of guys!
PAIGE | PAINTER, LSU SENIOR | PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY
I love the opportunity to photograph other artists. Especially when this specific artist happens to be my roommate, Zeta Tau Alpha sister, and one of my closest friends. Paige Montana Gresell is an unbelievably talented painter! She's also super cool. I was so excited to have a change of pace with her Senior Portraits by shooting them in her painting studio on LSU's campus.
GROOVIN 2K15 | YOUNG THE GIANT, PARACHUTE, COIN | MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Every year, LSU Students On Target puts on a free concert in Baton Rouge for students and locals. With big names in the past like Akon, One Republic, Ludacris, and Weezer, it's an event that pretty much everyone puts in their calendar each year. This year, bands Dulac Smack, Coin, and Parachute opened up for headlining act Young the Giant. I had the amazing opportunity to shoot the meet & greets with the bands, and even get a pass to shoot the performances from the pit! It was an AMAZING show, I still can't believe that LSU Students on Target pull this off for us to go FREE. I'm obsessed with some of the shots I got, so check them out below and let me know what you think!
KENDRA SCOTT | VIA MAYA LAUNCH PARTY | FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY
When I opened my email and saw that the Kendra Scott location at Perkins Rowe here in Baton Rouge liked my photography and requested my services at their Via Maya Summer 2015 Collection Launch Party, I was ecstatic. I was also ALL ABOUT the getting paid in jewelry part, DUH. I had the most amazing experience working with the company.
